Bethany, Oklahoma – January 18 th , 2018 – The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Men’s Basketball team won against Southwestern Christian University (SCU), 83-74 on Thursday evening.

The Lions came onto the court with a slower than usual start in the first half. SCU maintained a slight lead on SAGU until the final 6 minutes of the first half. SAGU tied the game 24-24. The Lions picked up the pace of game play but SCU did not let up. Both teams responded to each other after every point. SAGU held a 2-point lead of 40-38 at the end of the 1 st half of regulation.

During the second half, the Lions kept their style of play at a constant pace. SAGU’s largest lead in the second half was a total of 15 points. The final score of the game was 83-74 with the Lions getting the win. Notable players were: Cameron Hill (18 points/8 rebounds), Desmond Meddler (15 points).

Head Coach Delton Deal stated “We did a great job tonight of gathering our composure in a game that started off at a frenetic pace. I thought we came out and defended at a high level in the 2 nd half. We found a way to get a tough road win. Great team effort overall!”

The Lions were originally going to play on Saturday, January 20 th , 2018 at the Sheaffer Center but this game has officially been considered a forfeit by St. Gregory’s University. The next game on schedule will be against NAIA ranked University of Science and Arts-Oklahoma at 8:00 P.M. on Thursday January 25 th in Chickasaw, Oklahoma.
