Men’s basketball loses a close one to Division 1 NCAA tournament team Stephen. F Austin . The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lions controlled most of the first half getting up 29-19 early. On top of that, SAGU won the second half 36-33. With seconds left to go, 67-67 the Lumberjacks missed a jumper to be tied up by Cameron Hill and SFA’s Oddyst Walker . The refs blew their whistles and called a foul on Hill to send Walker to the free throw with 2.1 seconds left. Walker missed the first one and made the second attempt, Josh Kashila took a dribble at half court and missed it wide right as time expired for a final score of 67-68.

Kashila led the Lions in scoring with 20 points on 5-9 shooting from the field and knocking down 8 of his 9 free throw attempts. He also had five rebounds, two assists, and two steals during the game. Hill was next in scoring with 17 points, five rebounds, and five steals. Junior forward, Darian Davis had 12 points and three rebounds and Nyk Mason had 11 points to go along with four rebounds.

The Lions next game will be against Ecclesia College in Waxahachie Monday night at 6 pm. SAGU is 3-0 on the season and Ecclesia has started out 0-4 with loses to SAC teams John Brown University and Oklahoma City University .
