Plainview, Texas – December 2 nd , 2017 – The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) men’s basketball team lost their second game of conference play to Wayland Baptist University. SAGU now moves to 6-1 this season and 1-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference competition.

SAGU and Wayland University’s men battled hard with each other throughout the entire first half. SAGU finished out the first period with a 3-point lead, 42-39, over their opponents. Coming back after the half was a challenge for the Lions. The final score of the game was 80-72 with the win for Wayland Baptist.

“Tough loss tonight but proud of how we fought to the end. Wayland is a good team, especially at home. We competed at a high level. We need to improve in the half court on offense but we are taking strides towards the team we want to become every day,” states Head Coach Delton Deal.

The Lions will be back in action on December 14 th , 2017 against Mid-America Christian University in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Tip-off is set for 8:00 P.M.
