Springfield, MO – December 29th, 2017 – The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) men’s basketball team lost their second game in the Assemblies of God Classic against  NAIA Division II and nationally ranked #1 Cornerstone University, 86-67, on Saturday afternoon.

At the half, the score was 39-32 with Cornerstone leading the Lions. Cornerstone was able to go on a quick run to start the second half and never looked back. The Lions were playing their second game in as many days in the annual Assemblies of God Classic. They had defeated Evangel, 80-78, less than 24 hours prior in a battle to end.

Head Coach Delton Deal stated “ I am proud of the way our guys fought today but we just didn’t do a good job controlling the boards and were unable to make a late run. This will be something we can learn from and take with us as we move into conference play next week."

The Lions will step back into Sooner Athletic Conference play on January 4th, 2018 at 8:00 PM directly following the women's basketball game.
