Siloam Springs, Arkansas-March 2nd, 2018–The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) men’s basketball team got the monkey of their back and defeated top-seeded Texas Wesleyan 89-79. SAGU had been beaten in both regular season contests by the Rams. With the win, the Lions move on to the championship round and will face the Oklahoma City Univeristy/Wayland Baptist Universtiy winner.

Senior guard Joshua Swearnigin led the Lions with 24 points and freshman Cam Hill added 17 points. SAGU now moves to 24-9 on the season.

SAGU used a big 24-11 run in the last seven minutes of the first halg and would go into halftime with a 51-39 advantage. TWU would cut the lead to six points, twice, in the final half. However, the run would not be enough and SAGU pushed the lead back to double digits with one minute left to play.

The Lions will face the winner of the OCU and WBU game on Saturday, March 3rd at 4:00 PM.
