Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – January 4 th , 2018 – The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) men’s basketball team won their first Sooner Athletic Conference(SAC) game of the New Year against NAIA #14 Oklahoma City University (OCU), 91-81, on Thursday evening.
The Lions came out dominant in the first half against #14 NAIA ranked OCU with a 16 point lead. Going into the second half with a score of 52-36, the Lions continued their strong run to the very end and came up on top with the win, 91-81. Key team players of the game were Jalen Petillo with 10 rebounds, Darney Sims with 13 points, Joshua Kashila with 19 points, and Cameron Hill with 26 points.
“Great effort from the guys tonight! We came out and played with joy which is what have been focusing on this week. Stellar performances from 3 freshman (Cameron Hill, Jalen Petillo, and Josh Kashila). I’m really proud of them! This was a great team effort,” says Head Coach Delton Deal.
SAGU will continue their two game road swing against new SAC member Central Christian College in McPherson, KS on Saturday, January 6 th at 5:00 PM.
