Bethany, Oklahoma – October 6, 2015- The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) women’s soccer team got their first Sooner Athletic Conference ( SAC) victory in a 3-2 win over Southwestern Christian University . The Lady Lions are 1-2 in SAC play and 6-5 overall.
SCU girls went up 1-0 after they were first to score with 16:54 left in the first half off of a corner kick that was poorly cleared by SAGU defense. At halftime, the 1-0 score stood.
With 28:17 left in the second half, the Lady Lions tied the score 1-1 after SAGU’s Samantha Gonzales scored after shooting it from the right side of the box to the left side upper 90’s just out of reach of the goalies hands.
SAGU was able to get the final goal of the game when Nadine Jaimes scored off of a free kick when the SCU goalie fumbled the shot and let it go between her legs. This made for Jaimes’ ninth goal of the season.
The Lady Lions have no rest for the weary as they will host Central Christian (10-2) on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at 2:00pm.
