Waxahachie, Texas- February 27, 2016- The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) women’s basketball team picked up a 58-46 win over Mid-America Christian University .  SAGU got the win on senior day, where they honored Taylor Hill, Bethany Krock and Meghan Becker .

“You always want your seniors to go out in style and I thought our team’s energy and effort today proved that they wanted that as well,” says head coach Tiffany Phillips.

The Lady Lions started the game strong from the first possession where Charity Page scored the first points of the game.  According to Phillips, the goal was to come out of the gate strong, “Defensively we wanted to come out and set the tone in the first three possessions and I thought we did a great job of that. We set a goal to get the first three stops and we did and it just kept going and going.”

In the first quarter, SAGU forced seven MACU turnovers.  At the end of the first, SAGU was in the lead 11-6.  Senior Bethany Krock scored eight of SAGU’s 11 points.

“For Bethany, Meghan, and Taylor I am so proud of the way they played today and all year. They have shown resilience and have so much heart and passion for the game. They weren’t ready to be done and they proved it today,” explains Phillips.

SAGU’s Charity Page scored 20 points and she had 16 rebounds.  Taylor Hill added 18 points.

Jamie Lamb led MACU with 15 points.
