Waxahachie, Texas – September 8, 2015 — Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) hosted the annual Spiritual Saturation Week the first week of classes, September 1-4. At the beginning of each school year, SAGU sets aside one week to emphasize spiritual formation among students. An altered class schedule allows for extended chapel times during the day and special services in the evening at 7pm. Throughout the week several District Youth Directors (DYD) from nearby Assemblies of God (AG) districts get the chance to be guest speakers, support their corresponding SAGU students with a district dinner and most times award scholarships to the students in their district.

This year’s speakers included Darin Stroud (Kansas DYD), George Carballo (Texas-Louisiana Latin DYD), John Dougherty (Georgia DYD), Griffin McGrath (Arizona DYD), outgoing DYD of South Texas, Matt Rule , and new to the district, Stancle Williams . New DYD of North Texas, Tim Puckett , was unable to attend; former DYD Jon Catron was present in his absence. Also attending for the week were DYD’s, Steve Mason (Alabama DYD), David Maxwell (Mississippi DYD), Alan Chapin (Louisiana DYD), Dane Hall (Arkansas DYD) Doug Everaard (Oklahoma DYD), Jeral Dickenson (New Mexico DYD), and Chris Murdoch (West Texas).

This semester, Stroud and Hall are SAGU Distance Education instructors for the Bible and Church Ministries Department.

Stroud teaches Youth & Student Ministry Leadership and Strategies for Youth & Student Ministries courses. Youth & Student Ministry Leadership is a foundational course in developing an effective youth ministry. Strategies for Youth & Student Ministries addresses finding, growing and leaving ministry positions.

Hall oversees SAGU youth ministry major internships. Each internship provides students with practical, hands-on ministry experience in a variety of settings such as campus ministry, district camps and local church ministry. While participating in ministry, students are guided through meaningful conversations with an experienced ministry supervisor.
