Waxahachie, Texas – April 20, 2016 – Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) honored Bill and Velma Austin for their 25 years of service dedicated to serving students, faculty and staff in any capacity needed.

Velma shared, “We chose to come back every year to build relationships with students. We love seeing them grasp God’s calling on their lives and build their careers. We cherish the time we’ve spent here.”

Now retiring, the Austin’s came to SAGU in 1991 for an Assemblies of God RV-Maps assignment. For the past 25 years, the Austins have done any job assigned to them including maintenance, secretarial, inventory control and library work, all without pay. They say, “Our compensation is in the eyes of God.”

The Austins serve faithfully at youth and kids camps, programs for at-risk kids, in a community food bank, in a local AG church and support students in concerts, recitals, plays, chapels and athletic events.

President Kermit Bridges recognized Bill and Velma during chapel on March 24, 2016, and introduced the Bill and Velma Austin Scholarship Fund in their honor.
