Langston, OK- Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) #13 ranked Men’s basketball team was on the road for another Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) game against Langston (Okla.) (LANG) on Thursday night. The first contest between these two teams was an epic overtime game. SAGU (21-4, 13-4) didn’t need extra time to dispose of Langston (13-14, 4-12) on this night as they won by the score of 87-70.
Top Performers
- Josh Kashila ( JR/Euless, TX ) had a near triple-double as he totaled 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists.
- Nyk Mason ( SO/Frisco, TX ) led all scorers with 26 points.
- Darian Davis ( SR/Garland, TX ) led SAGU in rebounds with 9 boards.
- Kentton Williams ( SR/Levelland, TX ) also hit double-figures in scoring with 15 points.
- SAGU was able to control the glass as they won the rebounding battle 43-34.
- SAGU shot 51% (31-61) from the field including 39% (7-18) from behind the arc.
Lions Review
- Davis kicked off the scoring for the Lions as he tied the game 2-2.
- Mitchell McMullen ( SR/San Antonio, TX ) hit a three-pointer to give SAGU their first lead of the game 11-10.
- Williams hit a bucket midway through the first half to maintain the lead at 21-18.
- LU came back quickly to tie the game 24-24.
- SAGU went on a 14-2 run (7 points coming from Kashila) to take control of the game 38-26.
- Back-to-back triples from McMullen and Williams kept the double-digit lead for SAGU with under two minutes remaining in the half.
- Mason closed the half with a basket to give the Lions a 49-35 advantage at the halftime break.
- LU roared out of the locker room with an 8-0 run to find themselves right back in the game.
- Kashila converted a three-point play to push the lead back to 14 (59-45) with 16:04 to go.
- LU nailed a huge triple to finally get the lead to single-digits at 68-60 with 8:36 left.
- Kashila answered with two quick scores to give the Lions a 74-62 lead with just under seven minutes to play.
- SAGU would maintain its comfortable lead pushing it out to as many as 17 points. The Lions would ultimately win by that same margin 87-70.

SAGU has a quick turn around as they travel to play Central Christian College on Saturday, February 22nd at 3:45 pm.
