SAGU Handles ABU to Stay Undefeated

Waxahachie, TX- Southwest Assemblies of God University (SAGU) welcomed Arlington Baptist University (ABU) to The Sheaffer Center on Tuesday. The Lions (3-0, 0-0) got off to a slow start but used a strong second half to beat ABU (0-3,0-0 ) 89-66.
Top Performers
- Nykolas Mason ( SO/Frisco, TX ) lead the Lions with 21 points which included 3-4 from three-point range.
- Joshua Kashila ( JR/Euless, TX) shot 6-14 from the field for 13 points.
- SAGU shot 49% from the field and 36% from the three-point line as a team.
- The Lions asserted themselves around the basket as they dominated the paint scoring 40-16
How It Happened
- SAGU was a little sloppy coming out of the gate and were trading baskets with ABU. The game was tightly contested and SAGU was only up a basket (28-26) with a little over six minutes remaining in the first half.
- Noah Bowling ( FR/Van Alstyne, TX ) and Kashila cashed in on a couple of threes to ignite a 15-7 scoring run going into halftime.
- The Lions cranked up their defensive intensity in the second half. They made ABU pay with 16 points off turnovers.
- Terrance Hubby ( SR/Mansfield, TX ) was active on both ends of the floor. He showed his athleticism with a couple of key blocks and then electrified the crowd with a steal and dunk to put SAGU up 79-52 and all but ice the game away.

SAGU will be at home on Friday, November 15 th at 7:00 pm at the Sheaffer Center as they play host to Jarvis Christian College.
