Josh Kashila scores 24 to lead SAGU past BC

Muskogee, OK – Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) continued its road trip on Saturday. This time the Lions traveled to Muskogee, OK to take on Bacone College (BC). The Lions (5-1, 0-1) were able to get back in the win column with a 109- 84 victory of BC (0-7, 0-0).

Top Performers

  • Joshua Kashila ( JR/ Euless, TX ) led all scorers with 24 points on 9-18 shooting from the field.
  • Darian Davis ( SR/ Garland, TX ) finished one rebound shy of a double-double as he posted a 10-point 9 rebound effort.
  • SAGU shot 42% from three-point range and 57% overall
  • The Lions were +18 as a team in rebounding margin (47-29)

Lion Review

  • The Lions scored the first 4 points of the game but then BC went on an 11-3 run to take an 11-7 lead.
  • Bacone used solid defense early as they turned SAGU over and got some easy baskets pushing their lead to 21-14 with 14:38 in the 1 st half.
  • SAGU would answer with a 14-7 run of their own as they asserted themselves in the paint scoring second-chance points off a couple of offensive rebounds.
  • BC pulled within three points 37-34 with a little over three minutes left in the half. SAGU closed strong thanks to a 12-2 run.
  • BC battled back narrowing the margin to 58-52 but Cortland Blake ( FR/Fort Worth, TX ) answered with the next 8 points for SAGU pushing the margin to 66-54. SAGU led by double-digits the rest of the way.
  • The Lion bench came through in a huge way as they scored 45 points led by Blake with 15.

What’s Next

SAGU (5-1, 0-1) will head back Texas as they play their third straight road game against Paul Quinn on Tuesday, November 26 th . The start time is TBD
