Waxahachie, Texas—The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) football Lions are currently in a three way tie for first place with Langston and this week’s opponent Oklahoma Panhandle State University (OPSU ). SAGU will travel to Goodwill, Oklahoma to take on the Aggies who are currently 5-1 overall and 4-0 in Central States Football League (CSFL) play. SAGU is also 5-1 overall and 4-0 in the CSFL.

Offensively, OPSU is averaging 426.2 yards per game and have a very well balanced offense. They have rushed for 10 touchdowns and passed for 13 this season. The Aggies are coming off a 33-28 win over #17 Arizona Christian University last Saturday in Phoenix, Arizona.

Defensively, OPSU ranks sixth in the nation in passing defense efficiency and seventh in the nation in sacks per game.

SAGU junior quarterback CJ Collins knows the importance of this game for their team. Collins said, “Every game for us is the biggest game of the season but at the beginning of the year this is one you circle on your schedule to be a big game. This will be a great game to be a part of and a good test for our football team. We have to come out and play fast against a very aggressive defense and we must remain confident in our offense.”

Collins is currently averaging 273 yards passing per game and senior running back JP Lowery leads the Lions in rushing yards per game at 99.7. The Lions offense is ranked first in scoring offense per game with 46.7 points per game and total offense per game with 467.8 yards per game.

The game is set to start at 2:00 PM in Goodwill, Oklahoma.
