SAGU Football welcomes 26 new players through mid-year transfers

Coaching Staff’s Thoughts on the Class

  • “Overall there is a lot of talent in this class of players. We expect most of them to make an immediate contribution to the team come August.”
  • “One Guy we feel really good about is QB Gustavo “Chet” Villareal. He comes to us from a California Junior College he can really help us out at that spot.”
  • “Israel “Izzy” Garcia (DB), who was a teammate of Villareal, will also be joining us. He will provide some athleticism and playmaking ability in the secondary.”
  • “A couple of other players to keep an eye on are Zachariah and Zachary Johnson a pair of twin wide receivers that come to us by way of Northwest MS Community College. Coach Smith actually coached both of them while he was the Head Coach at Newton High School.”
