Waxahachie, Texas – April 10, 2016 – The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) football team now has their sights set on the upcoming 2016 season. After three weeks of spring practices, the Lions capped the off-season with the annual Purple and White Spring Game. The White team came out on top, 21-11 and was led by quarterback Lincoln Kenitzer , who threw for two touchdowns.
The teams were chosen by a draft system that assigned Purple Team players to Coach Beau Grech and White Team players to Coach James Satterwhite .
Early in the first quarter, All-American D’Vonn Brown forced a fumble that led to Lincoln Kenitzer send a 21-yard touchdown pass to Torras Hill .
On top of the 2016 Junior Day, many new SAGU football commits were in attendance. Near 30 new players attended the game and then lunch afterwards.
The 2016 season will kick-off on August 12 th when players will report. The Lions’ first game will be on Saturday, September 3, 2016 when they will play at Howard Payne University . Game time is at 7pm. The entire schedule can be found below.
