Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) women’s soccer team John Brown University

The Lady Lions started the first half off strong. Possessions were exchanged back and forth with four counterattacks being in favor of the JBU offense. Both teams had many chances at a goal but the Lady Lions couldn’t manage to capitalize early on.  At halftime, the Lady Golden Eagles led 4-0.

Coming off the bench for the second half, the SAGU Women continued to battle. JBU was held to only scoring two more goals in the second half. It wasn’t until the final five minutes that Senior Nadine Jaimes powered the ball to the back of the net giving SAGU their first and only goal of the game.

JBU now has a 7-2 record overall and are 1-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC). SAGU Head Coach Paul Hason said that he was glad to play their first conference game against JBU because they are favored to be the best team in the conference, “It was in our favor that we had our toughest competition first so that we could see and feel the energy and power of a championship caliber team. All I could ask for in this game was for my girls to play with grit and they did.”

The Lady Lions will play their next conference game on Saturday, September 30 th , 2017 against Bacone College at Life High School in Red Oak, Texas. Game time will commence at 5:30 P.M. Admission is free so come on out and enjoy an evening of SAGU soccer.
