Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) baseball Hillsdale Freewill Baptist College

In game one, the Saints were able to get the first hit of the game when in the third inning, Halen Frazier doubled to deep left-center.  HFBC left one runner on base but failed to get him home by the end of the inning.

SAGU was able to score the lone run of the game in the bottom of the fifth.  SAGU’s Eric Hagstrom singled thru the hole at second base. Maverick Keefer was then hit by a pitch to make it to base and advancing Hagstrom to second.  Next up, Chris Wallace singled to shallow right field advancing runners to scoring position. Jake Killion hit a sacrifice fly ball to shallow right field, scoring Hagstrom.

In the bottom of the sixth, SAGU was in scoring position once again with bases loaded.  HFBC was able to get out of the inning without allowing any more runs.

SAGU’s Jacob Keitner pitched all seven inning for the Lions while allowing only two hits.

In the second game, SAGU was able to pick up one run in each the first, second and third innings.

In the top of the third, the Saints scored two runs after Matt Johnson had a double to center, scoring Ryan Woerz and Hunter Burns to make the score 3-2.

The Lions’ big inning came in the bottom of the fourth where they scored six runs off of three hits and one error. Raul Castro had two RBI’s.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Lions scored three more runs off of three hits. Maverick Keffer had two RBI’s for SAGU.  At the end of the fifth the score was 12-3.

The Lions had trouble closing the game and HFBC scored five runs in the top of the seventh.  The Saints scored those five runs off of five hits and zero errors.

SAGU’s Brandon Ventura pitched four and 1/3 innings, AJ Munos pitched one and 2/3 innings, Chris Wallace pitched 1/3 innings and Ty Chiglo finished the final 2/3 inning.

Raul Castro had four hits for the Lions, while scoring one run. Maverick Keffer had two hits, four RBI’s and one run.

The Lions will close out their season opening home stand on Saturday, January 30, 2016.  The first game of the doubleheader begins at noon.
