Waxahachie, Texas—The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) men’s basketball team came up with a 100-73 win over Dallas Christian College on Thursday night in the Sheaffer Center. SAGU moves to 2-0 this season.

The Lions played a slow and steady game with Dallas Christian throughout the first 20 minutes of play. Dallas Christian had a 10-point lead near the middle of the first half. The SAGU Men continued to progress and came back with the lead 46-41 going into the final buzzer of the first period. The Lions came out strong in the second period, holding Dallas Christian to only 32 more points.

The men scored 55 more points in the second half making the final score 100-73 with the win in favor of the SAGU Lions. Jalen Petillo led the team in points with 13 and four blocks. Desmond Medder had a double-double with 13 rebounds along with also putting 10 points up on the board.

Head Coach Delton Deal stated, “The guys did an amazing job on the glass tonight! We struggled shooting the ball, but we always say that defense and rebounding will win. That statement came true tonight. Today was also a huge game for Desmond Medder and Jalen Petillo. Their effort and intensity sparked us and kept us where we needed to be in this game.”

SAGU will host Arlington Baptist College on November 9th, 2017 at 7:00 P.M.
