Lexi Rich scores 21 in win over BC

Muskogee, OK- Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Women’s Basketball team made their way to Muskogee, OK to battle Bacone College (BC) on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Lions (4-2, 1-0) won in convincing fashion beating BC (1-5, 0-0) by a score of 78-54.

Top Performers

  • Lexi Rich ( SR/San Antonio, TX ) led all scorers with 21 points.
  • Kiara Glenn ( JR/Ennis, TX ) was the only other Lion in double-figure scoring with 15 points.
  • Alexis Casher ( JR/Irvington, AL ) pulled down a team-high 7 rebounds.
  • SAGU forced 22 BC turnovers and had 12 steals for the game.
  • Collectively, SAGU shot 41% (30-73) from the field and 30% (7-23) from three-point range.
  • The Lady Lions cashed in 20 points off 22 BC turnovers.

Lions Review

  • Glenn and Rich scored 11 of the first 13 SAGU points as the Lions built a 13-3 lead with 6:27 left in the first quarter.
  • Trailing 26-8 with under two minutes in the first quarter BC ended the quarter with six straight points narrowing the margin to 12 (26-14).
  • BC pulled to within six points (35-29), but another mini scoring run by Glenn and Rich pushed the margin to 44-32 at the half.
  • Thanks to stout defense by SAGU, BC had nine turnovers and only 7 points in the third quarter as the SAGU lead ballooned to 61-39
  • BC played a close 4 th quarter, but by that time SAGU had built up a 30 point advantage as they cruised to the 78-54 victory.

What’s Next

SAGU (4-2, 1-0) will be back at the Sheaffer Center in Waxahachie, TX on SAGU campus when they play host to Texas Wesleyan University (4-1, 1-0) on December 3 rd at 6:00 pm.
