Waxahachie, Texas- October 21, 2015- Southwestern Assemblies of God University’s (SAGU) Destiny Garza has been named as the National Christian College Athletic Associations (NCCAA) D1 Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the week.  This is the first time for a SAGU cross country athlete to receive a national honor.  She is also currently the Sooner Athletic Conference Women’s Runner of the Week as well.

Garza, a junior from Aldine, Texas , demolished the University of Dallas course with a personal record of 18:20.  The course is known as “no PR hill” because of the grueling terrain.

With her first place finish, she beat the second place runner by 1:19.  This was Garza’s third meet in a row to be the meet champion.  Her efforts helped her team to a third place finish overall.

Garza will race next on Saturday, October 24 th , 2015, at the NAIA Mid-States Classic in Winfield Classic.  She will be competing against nearly 50 other NAIA schools.
