Siloam Springs, AR – March 3, 2018 – The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Men’s Basketball team defeated Wayland Baptist University (WBU), 90-81, to claim the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) Tournament Championship .

The win for the Lions gives them the automatic berth in the NAIA National Tournament that will begin later this month in Kansas City, Missouri.

SAGU trailed by as many as nine points in the first half and had a 48-43 deficit at halftime. SAGU would go on a run to open up the second half and WBU had trouble maintaining any lead. There were 25 lead changes in the game. However, SAGU would prove too much for the Pioneers in the last eight minutes of the game.

Cam Hill, Josh Kashilla and Joshua Swearingin accumulated 67 of SAGU’s 90 points. Cam Hill lead SAGU with 24 points while Swearingin added 22 points and Kashilla had 21 for the Lions. Swearingin was named the SAC Tournament’s Most Valuable Player while Hill and Kashilla both were named to the All-Tournament team.
