The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) traveled to John Brown University on Saturday and split against the Golden Eagles. The Lady Lions down by three at halftime controlled the second half to give them a 10 point lead going to into the fourth quarter. SAGU up by three with five seconds left on the clock, JBU’s Karina Chandra got a clean look and missed it to give SAGU their second conference road win of the week, 68-65. The men got off to a hot start when Josh Kashila made a bucket to give them a 20-9 lead with 11 minutes left in the half, after this it was all John Brown to hand the Lions their seventh loss of the season 65-77.

The Golden Eagles were unable to stop Jenna Price who had a career-high night with 23 points and was good for another double-double with 16 rebounds, three blocks, two assists, and two steals. Mckenzie Martin was on fire the second half knocking down four of her seven three’s for a total of 14 points and three rebounds. Kiara Glenn also landed in double-digits with 10 points, three steals, and two assists. The Lady Lions are now half a game behind Mid-American Christian for third place, these two teams will face off in Waxahachie on Saturday.

The men were led by Nyk Mason who has scored 20 or more points for his fourth straight game in conference with 26 points, shooting 9 of 14 from the field and knocking down eight of his 10 free throws. Mason is 7th in the nation shooting 62% from the field. Next was Kashila with 11 points, hitting three of his nine three points attempts against the Golden Eagles. Junior forward, Darian Davis led the Lions in rebounding with eight to go along with six points and two assists. They are tied for fourth in conference with Oklahoma Panhandle State and Southwestern Christian at 7-6.

Both teams will travel to the University of Science and Arts on Thursday to end a three-game conference road stand. The women will begin at 6 pm with the men tipping off at 8 pm for another big game on both sides.
