The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) baseball team win their second Sooner Athletic Conference series two games to one against Central Christian College . After this series, it pumps the Lions to sixth place in the SAC and one game behind University of Science of Arts.

Andrew Diaz hit his first home run of the season in game one that started the bats for SAGU after this they scored eight runs in the fourth inning. Ryan Cole had a two-run single that scored Kyle Coolidge and Houston Johnson ; Coolidge reached on base from a single and Johnson doubled to left. Cole later scored on a wild pitch that would resume Derrick Clement’s at-bat where he doubled to right that scored Diaz and Sonny Boyd . Coolidge comes up to bat for the second time in the inning and keeps the inning going with a single to center that scored Clement and AJ Munoz who was walked to reach on-base. The last run of the inning was a bases-loaded walk to Diaz that scored Bills from third. Game one ended with the Lions winning by ten runs, 12-2 with 11 hits to their five when Dennis Smith recorded the win after pitching a complete game and only allowing two earned runs while striking out seven batters.

Game two the Lions got out to another good start getting up 3-0; Munoz had a solo home run in the 3rd and Johnson had his first RBI of the weekend in the same inning hitting a sac-fly to center that scored Joseph Vazquez . The Tigers scored all four of their runs the next inning off of three hits and one error; the game remained scoreless after this. Final score SAGU 3 CCC 4, series tied 1-1 after day one in Waxahachie . Augie Martinez pitched 3.1 innings for three earned runs and six hits, Damian Garcia and Logan Mann didn’t allow a run in the final 3.2 innings combined.

Ben Bills couldn’t have pitched a better game pitching all nine innings striking out 11 batters while not allowing a run on four hits during game three. The only run came in the fourth inning when Coolidge was hit by a pitch then stole second immediately after. He then reached third from a wild pitch; Johnson recorded his 14th RBI of the season when Coolidge scored from his single to left field. Lions win 1-0 to win the series.

The Lions will have another three-game SAC series in Waxahachie 3/15 and 3/16 as the Aggies from Oklahoma Panhandle State University come to town. The games on Friday will be at 1 pm and 3 pm then the final game of the series on Saturday will take place at noon.
