Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – May 6, 2017- The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) baseball season has officially ended.  The Lions were swept by Oklahoma City University and St Gregory’s University in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament.

Oklahoma City University (L 11-5)

The Lions jumped out to the early lead against the number one ranked team in the nation.  SAGU senior Raul Castro hit a three-run home run to right field, scoring Wallace and Terry.

In the bottom of the second, OCU answered with four runs off of five hits.  OCU’s Littell hit a two-run home run.

SAGU didn’t score again until the top of the seventh.  With two outs, the Lions rallied when Chris Wallace hit a double down the left field line.  Next, with bases loaded, Ethan Greiner singled to center field, scoring CJ Bills and Chris Wallace .

The Lions went through five pitchers; Spenser Hart , Ty Behinger and Collin Gifford .

St. Gregory’s University (L 17-1)

SAGU’s Raul Castro started on the mound for the Lions one final time.  For the five and one/thirds innings he pitched he only gave up five runs.

The Lions couldn’t get much going offensively. Tanner Lindle did go one for three with one run scored and one triple.

OCU outhit SAGU 15-4.

The Lions ended the season 15-34 with a Sooner Athletic Conference record of 6-15.
