Biography

John Houston graduated from SAGU with a degree in Business in 1997. He went on to start his own business, John Houston Custom Homes (JHCH), in 2005 with two missions in mind: Reach people for Christ and give to the Kingdom of God. With every home that is built from JHCH, John believes there are 60 touchpoints or 60 opportunities to let people see the love of Christ demonstrated through him and his employees.

After wholeheartedly pursuing the call God placed on his heart, JHCH has continued to flourish over the past 15 years. John Houston Custom Homes was even voted the “Best Home Builder in Ellis County” for both 2018 and 2019! In addition to JHCH, John now owns six other businesses all for the purpose of giving to the Kingdom of God.

John is married to Tracy, who also attended SAGU. They have two children, Austin and Ashtyn. He is a member of the Oaks Fellowship and has served on their elder board along with the SAGU’s Southwestern Foundation Board.

As a leading Christian university, SAGU educates and prepares individuals who want to serve Christ and others. SAGU helps students discover and develop their God-given callings in a Spirit-empowered, learning community.

We believe in affordable tuition, made possible in part through the financial support of donors who embrace the mission of SAGU and the importance of affordable, accredited programs to train Christians for leadership in ministry, business, education, and service.

Most majors are available in-person in Waxahachie, TX, and online through a wide range of associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees.
