Waxahachie, Texas- October 8, 2015- The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) women’s soccer team beat Central Christian College (Kansas), 3-1. After the non-conference match, SAGU improved to an overall record of 7-5. Central Christian College is now 10-3. SAGU senior Joy Reyes scored all three of the Lady Lions goals.
Central Christian scored their only goal 13 minutes into the game. Krystina Stackhouse scored the goal off of an assist by Jaclyn Caranza.
At the 40 minute mark, Nadine Jaimes passed to Joy Reyes, who scored her first goal of the game. Tying the score 1-1.
In the 63 rd minute of play, Reyes scored a goal after crossing over a defender and putting the ball to her left foot, where she blasted a ball into the right side of the goal. She was five yards outside of the 18 when the shot was made.
With only seven minutes left in play, Reyes struck for the last time by beating the goalie on a one on one. The goalie came out sliding and Reyes dribbled around her and had an open net in front of her. The Lady Lions left victorious with a 3-1 score.
Reyes now has seven goals on the season.
After the win over CCU, SAGU women’s soccer is now enjoying their winningest season ever. Their record could still improve as the Lady Lions still have seven regular season games left.
