Waxahachie, Texas – March 6, 2017- It’s a new week and new award for Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) softball player Rachel Ray .  For the third time this season, Ray has picked up a Player of the Week honor.  This week she has been named as the Sooner Athletic Conference Pitcher-of-the-Week .

Ray is a junior from Brazoria, Texas .  She picked up complete-game wins against Centenary College and the University of Dallas .  During those two games, she allowed only two earned runs in 15 innings, struck out 16 batters and walked just one.

In amidst of this week’s honor, Ray is quick to praise her teammates, “I am very honored to receive this award.  I really couldn’t have done it without the amazing back up from my defense and the great calls my catcher provides.”

Currently, Ray is ranked in three different categories in the NAIA.  She ranks tenth in total innings pitched (65.2), 16 th in wins (7) and 30 in walks allowed per nine.

Already in the young season Ray has led her teams to more wins than all of last season.  The Lady Lions are currently 8-12.
