The NCCAA released their weekly awards and Southwestern Assemblies of God University’s (SAGU) junior goalkeeper Sarah Palmer was named Defensive player of the week. The other nominees included Adriana Arroyo, Brewton-Parker College; Jennifer Starwalt, Mid-America Christian University; and Tessa Zimmerly, Bethel College.

Palmer is from Grapevine, TX and transferred to the Lions from Lubbock Christian University . In her sophomore season, she ranked top 50 in the nation for total saves with 137, and saves per game at 5.96. She is currently tied for 1st in the nation for goals against, with not allowing a goal in their two matches for the 2018 season. Palmer’s opponents have had 9 shots on goal, with 3 against Randall University and, most recently having 6 saves against cross town opponent Paul Quinn College .
