Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) alumni Nick and Alicia Rogers were recently chosen to serve as the new District Youth Directors (DYD) for the West Texas District of the Assemblies of God.

“We were humbled and honored to be entrusted by God and our District Leadership with the DYD ministry role,” says Nick Rogers. “We simply see this position as another opportunity to continue to be faithful as we seek to give God the glory in West Texas.”

As the West Texas DYD, Nick Rogers oversees all district-wide ministry as it relates to youth, kids and Christian education/discipleship ministries.

“We are passionate about coming alongside the pastors of West Texas as they lead, encourage, disciple and mentor the youth and children of their churches and communities,” says Rogers.

Nick and Alicia will continue to serve their home church, Christian Life Church of Brownfield. Nick serves as Lead Pastor. The congregation at Christian Life Church has been supportive and excited for both Nick and Alicia since they stepped into their new roles as of January 1, 2018.

“Our congregation is predominantly made up of people who are learning who Jesus is, what daily surrender looks like and how to trust the Holy Spirit for daily empowerment,” he said.

“We are thankful that God has made a way in which we can continue to pastor our church, our town and be a part of what God is doing in the youth and children of West Texas.”

Nick and Alicia believe that the education and relationships they formed during their time as SAGU students has strongly influenced their ministry. Nick received his Bachelor of Science in Church Ministries and Master’s degree in Theological Studies from SAGU while Alicia received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from SAGU.

“My time at SAGU was invaluable,” says Nick Rogers. “God set in motion a lifetime of hunger for reading the Bible. I learned that prayer can and will impact nations. I received a lifetime of friendships. The academic rigors of my classes not only taught me the subject matter, but also how to apply myself to finish well. Plus, SAGU is the place where I found the woman of my dreams.”

In response to advice for students pursuing ministry, Nick emphasizes the importance of being open to different opportunities and different ways to represent Jesus in different seasons of life.

“The key is to have a submitted heart and be willing to do whatever is necessary in your calling and context to see lives transformed by Christ, says Nick Rogers. “When you settle in your heart to live a life for God, His Kingdom and His glory, anything can happen!”
