Waxahachie, Texas – May 24, 2017- The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) track team will be represented by two athletes at the NAIA National Outdoor Track & Field Championships for the second straight year.  Jerry Nava will be making his second appearance and freshman Robert Herrera will be making his debut.

Both Nava and Herrera will be competing in the marathon on Saturday at 6:00pm.  Last year Nava finished 14th in his first ever attempt at a marathon.

"I love the marathon!  It is an opportunity for true gut to be tested,” says SAGU Head Coach Jason Covarrubias, “You can train, train and train some more but there is nothing like the notorious mile 22 wall. There are so many variables that play a huge part in a marathon.  I'm excited to see what these guys can do.  Hard work works, let's go to work."

Nava, Herrera and Covarrubias will travel to Gulf Shores, Alabama on Wednesday.  The Marathon will be ran on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 6am.
