Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) baseball Texas Wesleyan University

The Lions ended their season with an overall record of 14-40 and a Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) record of 4-20.  The Rams are tied for first in the SAC with a record of 19-5 and an overall record of 37-15.  Before Sunday’s games three seniors were recognized for their time at SAGU; Spenser Hart , Carson Conarty and Sal Rico .

In game one, the highlight for the Lions was when Tallon Ralstin hit a homerun to right field in the top of the fourth.  This made Ralstin’s fourth homerun of the season.

In the second game SAGU had the lead of 3-1 going into the top of the fifth.  The Lions were able to score one run in each of the first, second and fourth innings.

In the top of the first, Raul Castro grounded out, but drove Eric Hagstrom in for the score.  In the top of the second, Christopher Wallace hit a sacrifice bunt to score Jake Payonk.  And in the top of the fourth, Anthony Montalvo singled down the left field line, scoring Tallon Ralstin .

In the final three innings, TWU outscored SAGU 6-1 and won with a final score of 7-4.  TWU’s Stephen Yancey picked up the win.

In the last game of the series, the Rams got off to a strong start.  They scored five runs off of four hits and one SAGU error in the first inning.

SAGU scored their lone run in the bottom of the first.  The Lions were able to rally after two outs. Elijah Young hit a double to right center field, scoring Raul Castro.

Castro went three for three at the plate.

The Lions did not make the cut for the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament beginning May 6 and running to May 9, 2016.
