Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) men’s soccer Dallas Baptist University

The first 45 minutes of regulation was a constant battle of possession, especially among the mid-field. The game was at a standstill of 0-0 going into the half. SAGU Head Coach Clem Oancea felt that his Lions did well in the first half, “The most important thing for us as a team is creating quality play in the mid-field and attacking third.”

In the first five minutes coming off the bench from halftime, DBU capitalized on a shot opportunity and scored their first goal. The Patriots scored another goal making it 2-0 with 35 minutes left on the clock. With 3:37 left in the game, DBU performed a counterattack through SAGU’s left flank. It crossed through the far post resulting in the third and final goal of the game in their favor.

Following the game, Assistant Coach Caesar España said, “Even though we dominated this game, we paid for our mistakes in the back by not playing simple. Overall, we beat the other team in possession with the ball but we were not able to find a goal.”
