Waxahachie, Texas- September 20, 2015 – The University of St. Thomas-Houston proved to be too much to handle for the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) men’s soccer team. UST topped the Lions 2-1. SAGU is now 2-3-1.
In the 33 rd minute of play, UST was able to get the first point of the game after Jorge Contreras assisted Chris Natera in a goal. Three minutes later the Celts were able to strike again after a goal by F. Montanari. Going into halftime UST was up, 2-0.
UST made their final goal near the 58 th minute mark. Leo Artiga was able to get one by SAGU’s goalkeeper Edgar Chavez.
SAGU’s Robert Ambrosie was able to score the lone Lion goal at 68:41. This makes Ambrosie’s third goal for the season.
Goalkeeper Cesar Espana played the first half and had five saves and two goals allowed. Chavez played the second half and had six saves, while allowing one goal. Offensively, UST dominated SAGU when it came to shots. UST had 23, compared to the SAGU’s six.
On Tuesday, September 22, 2015, SAGU will play Dallas Baptist University . Game time is at 7pm. DBU is currently 2-2-1.
