McPherson, Ks – January 6th, 2018 – The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) men’s basketball team won against Central Christian College on Saturday evening, 85-82.

The Lions came off to a slow start against Central Christian in the first half. At the end of the half, the Lions remained in the game trailing by 12 points. The Lions came back strong after the half. They not only caught up but had a unchallenged 10-point run after tying the game at 61 points with 9:18 left on the clock in the second half. SAGU kept the lead until the end of the game and finished out on top with the win against Central Christian College with a score of 85-82.

Head Coach Delton Deal stated “So proud of what we were able to accomplish today versus a good Central Christian College team. Saturday’s are always tough on long road trips and we overcame a sluggish start to play a great game in the 2nd half to closeout the game. Bigtime effort from Josh Swearingin who kept us in the game early and helped us close it out! Looking forward to home games now! Go Lions!”

The Lions will be back in the Sheaffer Center playing against Bacone College on January 11th at 8:00 P.M.
