Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) baseball Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) Player-of-the-Week Augie Martinez SAC Pitcher-of-the-Week

Martinez picked up a win in game two and helped the Lions weep Bacone College . “He did a great job of commanding the strike zone and getting ahead of hitters in his game this weekend,” explains head coach Sam Blackmon , “Doing that allowed us to have a great deal of success and ultimately our team was successful because of that.”

The freshman pitcher from Galveston, Texas tossed a seven-inning, no hitter in an 11-1 victory over the Warriors. He struck out four batters, walked one and Bacone’s lone run scored was unearned.

“Augie has been a diligent and hard worker since he arrived on campus.  He is attentive to the purpose of his work day in and day out,” says Blackmon.

The Lions are currently in fifth place in the Sooner Athletic Conference.  They have an overall record of 13-20 and a SAC record of 4-5.
