Game One (13-7)
Randall was the first team to score. RC scored five runs in the top of the second inning. When it was SAGU’s turn at the plate, the Lions score four runs off of five hits. Ty Behinger and CJ Bills both doubled.
In the top of the third, SAGU allowed one run to score off an error. The Lions big inning came in the third. The Lions rallied after two outs to score five runs off of four hits.
CJ Bills was two for five with four RBI’s and two runs scored. Chris Wallace went two for three with two runs scored.
Raul Castro pitched four innings for the Lions. He had four strike outs and seven hits. Collin Gifford pitched two innings, with one strike out. Kacy Waxler came in relief for one inning.
Game Two (14-6)
SAGU jumped out to the early lead after scoring five runs in the first inning. The Lions hit five singles to score each of their runs. Randle also committed one error in the first.
Much like in game one, another big rally happened after two strike outs at the plate for SAGU in the bottom of the fourth. With two outs, CJ Bills tripled to center field. Jake Payonk singled to center, scoring Bills. SAGU’s Josh Terry reached base on a walk. Next, Raul Castro singled up the middle, driving in Payonk and advancing Terry. Griffin Glen doubled to deep left field, scoring both Terry and Castro. Finally, Ty Behinger doubled to right field, bringing home Glen. The Lions scored five runs off of five hits.
On the mound for the Lions, Augie Martinez pitched three and two/thirds innings. He had two strike outs while allowing one hit. Ty Chiglo pitched two and one/third innings with four strike outs and three hits. Finally, Nick Palmer pitched the final inning with one strike out.
At the plate for SAGU, Griffin Glen went three for four, he had three RBI’s and scored two runs. Both Jake Payonk and CJ Bills went three for four at the plate. Bills had one triple.
The Lions will finish the homestand on Saturday, January 28, 2017, at noon. They will host Randall College on the SAGU campus.
