Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) baseball Sooner Athletic Conference St. Gregory’s University

Game One (L 8-7)

The Lions were the first to score, putting two runs across in the bottom of the first.  SAGU’s Ethan Greiner tripled deep down the right field line, scoring Josh Terry and Jake Payonk .

SGU picked up five runs in the top of the third after SAGU committed two errors.

In the bottom of the fifth, SAGU’s CJ Bills hit another triple to deep right field, scoring Jake Payonk , Raul Castro and Griffin Glenn .

SAGU’s AJ Munoz , Tanner Lindle , Collin Gifford and Ty Behinger all saw time on the mound.

CJ Bills went one for two with three RBI’s and one run scored at the plate.

Game Two ( L 4-1)

Raul Castro pitched all seven innings for the Lions.  He had seven strike-outs, while allowing five hits.

SAGU’s one run was scored in the bottom of the third.  SAGU’s Raul Castro reached base on a Cavaliers error, also allowing Josh Terry to score.

The score was tied 1-1 heading into the seventh.  In the bottom of the seventh, SGU was able to score three runs off of two hit and one SAGU error.

Josh Terry , Raul Castro and Griffin Glenn all went two for three at the plate.  Terry scored the one run.

SGU’s Mychal Yarbor picked up the win on the mound.

Game Three (L 3-1)

The Cavaliers scored one run in each the first, fourth and six innings.  SAGU was able to put one run across in the bottom of the seventh. Ethan Greiner singled down the right field line and was able to make it to third base after SGU’s misplayed ball. Chris Wallace grounded out to short, scoring Greiner.

Jake Payonk pitched five innings for SAGU, Spenser Hart pitched two/thirds inning and Payton Barrios pitched one and one/third inning.

Raul Castro hit one for three with one double. Ethan Greiner went one for three with one run scored.

SAGU will next play Mid-America Christian University on March 10-11, 2017.  MACU is currently 8-14.
