Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) baseball Central Christian

The Lions won game one 9-8, where they had two home runs.  One of the homers from CJ Bills and one from Josh Terry .  Terry was a perfect three-for-three at the plate with two RBI’s and two runs scored.

Going into the seventh inning, SAGU was in the lead 6-5.  At the top of seventh, CC scored three runs to take the 8-6 lead.  In the bottom of the seventh, SAGU had two runners reach base off of walks.  Pinch hitter Tanner Lindle singled, scoring Ethan Greiner . Jake Payonk doubled to deep center field, scoring Anthony Montalvo and Lindle.  The Lions won 9-8.

SAGU’s Raul Castro started on the mound and pitched four innings.  He had two strike outs. Collin Gifford pitched two innings and Jake Payonk finished out with one inning.

In game two, CCC was able to score in the second, third and fourth innings.  Going into the seventh inning the score was 6-0.  SAGU’s Tanner Lindle begun a three run rally after a double to deep right field.  SAGU scored three runs off of four hits and one CCC error.

At the plate, Lindle went two for three with one double and one run scored.  The Lions went through four pitchers. Augie Martinez started the game and pitched three and one/third innings, Ty Chiglo pitched 2/3 innings, Tyler Warren pitched two and one/third innings and Caleb Carnell finished with two/thirds innings.

Going into the sixth inning in game three, SAGU was ahead 5-2.  CCC went onto score 10 runs in the next two innings, SAGU wasn’t able to score again in the game.  The Lions had five errors.

The fourth game was much like the third.  SAGU was up 8-4 heading into the top of the fifth.  Central Christian scored eight runs off of three hits in the fifth inning.

In the final two games of the home stand, Central Christian outscored SAGU 28-14.

The Lions will continue to have the home field advantage next weekend.  On Friday, February 10 , 2017, SAGU will host Texas College.  Friday’s games will be held at Waxahachie Sports Complex and game time is at 4pm.
