Waxahachie, Texas- December 8, 2015- The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) men’s basketball team improved to 9-2 after a 75-61 victory over Jarvis Christian College .  JCC is now 1-7 for the season.

In the past week, SAGU has won three games in a row.  Something head coach Donnie Bostwick is thankful for, “It was a great three game stretch as we got off to a good start in SAC play and finished with a solid win over Jarvis Christian. Both teams played through fatigue. It was good to see our older players carry us. Their toughness and experience was the difference.”

The first half remained close.  With 5:31 left to play, JCC’s Malcolm Manuel put the Bulldogs up by two.  The Lions were able to slowly pull ahead and at the halftime buzzer, Rishaad Alexander hit a half-court shot put the Lions up, 41-35.

“Rishaad was excellent tonight. He set the tone early then hit a nice half shot to finish the half. That was huge,” says Bostwick, “He then got Remington and Keyunta involved which helped break the game open. Emmanuel dominated the boards and Tyler Pate had a nice game off the bench tonight.”

Rishaad Alexander led all-scorers with 19 points.  He also had seven assists. Keyunta Watkins and Remington Mitchell each had 15 points. Watkins also had three steals. Emmanuel Adoy i had 11 rebounds and two steals.

For JCC, Terrel De Rouen had 12 points and nine assists.

On Monday, December 14, 2015 the Lions will host Arlington Baptist College .  Game time is at 8pm.
