Longview, Texas – September 6, 2017 – The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) men’s soccer team tied 1-1 with the LeTourneau University yellow jackets on Tuesday evening.

Assistant Coach Caesar España mentioned, “It was a very hard fought game from our guys. An early goal put us behind in the first 15 minutes but we managed to tie the game up before the first half was over.” The goal was made by SAGU’s #8, Junior Miguel Torres .

The second half was a constant battle of defense versus defense. Both teams ended the 90-minute regulation and went into double overtime to settle the score. Neither team scored during the overtime periods thus ending the match in a tie.

Coach España mentioned that this game was a learning experience for his team, “These men learned that if we stick to our style of play, we have the potential to become a very dangerous team. One thing that really stuck out was how well the team worked together. We were able to create more chances at striking our opponents goal when we stuck to moving the ball around rather than be conservative with the ball. Working together as a unit, rather than as individuals, got us the tie against LeTourneau.”

The SAGU Men’s Soccer team will be playing at Dallas Baptist University on Saturday, September 9 th , 2017 at 7:00 P.M.
