Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) men’s basketball Jonathan Jackson Jalen Petillo

Head Coach Donnie Bostwick is thrilled to be welcoming the two players to his national ranked team, “We are very excited about adding both of these young men to our family. They both can play multiple positions and are capable of impacting our program as freshman. Their futures are very bright and their character matches their talent level. That is why I have very high expectations for both Jon and Jalen.”

Everman’s Jonathan Jackson is a 6’5 inside-outside weapon who averaged 26.4 points, 9.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game this past season.  Jackson has an impressive list of post-season honors including All-State and All-District MVP as a junior.  Even though his senior season was cut short due to a foot injury, he was still selected both 1 st Team All-District and All-Region.  Prior to his season-ending foot injury, he led his team to a 6-1 record in district play and a first place ranking.  In addition to his athletics accolades, he also made Academic All-State with a 3.69 GPA.

Arlington Martin’s Jalen Petillo has impressive stats as well.  He averaged 14.4 points per game, 8.8 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game this past season.  Petillo led his team to a 23-10 record as well as a district championship.  Petillo was a 1 st Team All-District and All-Region selections, as well as being chosen as the District Defensive Player of the Year.  As a junior he was named 1 st Team All-District and as a sophomore he was named 2 nd Team All-District and Newcomer of the Year that season.  At 6’6, Petillo led his team in deflections, dunks and charges taken.  He had a single game high of 37 points and seven dunks this season.

“The two local standouts enjoyed highly decorated careers at their respected schools and are bringing their talents next year to the Lions pride! Both have been impact players for their high schools for the past three seasons,” says Bostwick.

Jackson and Petillo will be added to a team that went 24-10 overall, finished second in the Sooner Athletic Conference and made it to the second round of the NAIA National Championship tournament.
