Waxahachie, Texas – September 21, 2015- Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) volleyball player Emmalee Smith has been named the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) Volleyball Defender-of-the-Week .  This is Smith’s second time to receive the honor this season.

Smith is a senior libero from Red Oak, Texas .  She averaged 5.08 digs in a 13-game span where the Lions went 4-0 with wins against the University of Dallas, St. Gregory’s, Southwestern Christian and University of the Southwest (N.M).  Smith totaled 66 digs this past week and maintained a .981 service reception percentage.

“Emmalee has been a consistent player week in and week out. She allows us to play a high risk/high reward defense,” says head coach Hank Moore , “Her numbers have been very good. She is passing the ball at a very high level. I’m very proud of all her accomplishments.”

At the beginning of the season, Smith started in fifth place in career digs at SAGU.  Currently, she is 155 digs away from breaking the all-time digs school record.
