Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) women’s basketball Arlington Baptist College

It was a banner night for SAGU senior Laken Ward .  She tied a career-high, scoring 28 points in the victory over the Lady Patriots.  She also led in rebounds and assists.

The game was a bit sloppy for both teams.  SAGU had 38 turnovers and ABC had 32 turnovers.  The amount of turnovers kept the score close throughout the game.  A made free throw by Laken Ward before halftime put SAGU up 33-27.

With 6:53 left in the game, SAGU was able to extend their lead to the greatest of the night after SAGU forced a turnover and Laken Ward made a basket.  The Lady Lions went up by 13 points.

ABC was able to pull within six points with 1:44 left in the game.  In the final minute, SAGU was able to hold ABC scoreless.  The Lady Lions walked away with the 68-58 victory.

Ward scored 28 points, had nine rebounds, five assists and three steals.  Senior Charity Page had 20 points and seven rebounds.  Freshman Kayla Blise went three-for-four at the three point line and scored nine points.

The Lady Lions will take a few weeks off for Christmas.  They will be back in action on New Year’s Eve when they play at University of Arkansas-Monticello .  Game time is at 4pm.
