Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) women’s basketball Texas Wesleyan University

The first quarter yo-yo’ d a bit, but SAGU was able to keep the game close.  With six minutes left in the quarter, Kayla Blise hit a three pointer to tie the game at eight.  With 1:33 left, TWU’s Alycia Louallen got a steal followed by a lay-up to extend TWU’s lead to 21-12.  In the final minute, Charity Page hit a jumper followed by a three pointer by L exi Rich .  The score at the end of the first quarter was TWU leading 21-17.

The second quarter went much like the first.  TWU extended their lead to 11 with 3:41 left in the half and then SAGU was able to cut their lead to five with a halftime score of 37-32.

The Lady Lions were on fire to start the second half.  Freshman Kayla Blise hit another three pointer to start the half and cut TWU’s lead to two points.  With 7:45 left in the third quarter, SAGU tied the game at 39 after a jump shot by Laken Ward .  Next, Taylor Sims had a fast break layup to take the lead.  Unfortunately, the Lady Rams were able to outscore SAGU 14-5 for the rest of the third quarter.

Kayla Blise led the Lady Lions in scoring with 15 points.  She also had three assists. Laken Ward had 13 points and seven rebounds and Charity Page scored 11 points and had nine rebounds.

TWU’s Bailey Broadnax scored 16 points for the Lady Rams.

On Monday, December 12, 2016 the Lady Lions will play at Arlington Baptist College .  Game time is at 6pm.
