Waxahachie, Texas- March 29, 2016- The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) softball team lost both games of a doubleheader to St. Gregory’s University (SGU).  The Cavaliers won game one 10-2 and game two 9-0.  St. Gregory’s University is currently ranked no. three in the NAIA.

In the bottom of the first, SAGU had a strong showing.  The first three batters made it on base.  However, the Lady Cavaliers got three outs without giving up any runs and stranding three on base.

In the bottom of the third SAGU scored after Kristin Stringer doubled to shallow right center, scoring Bailey Balloun and Kelsey Coburn .  The Lady Lions stranded two on base.

Game one was 2-2 going into the fourth inning.  Unfortunately, SGU scored two runs in both the fourth and the fifth innings and three runs in the top of the sixth.

SAGU’s Bailey Balloun went two for three with one run scored. Kristin Stringer went one for two with two RBI’s and one double. Kelsey Coburn also went one for two with a double.

SGU’s Ashli Hafford went three for three with two RBI’s and one run.  Hafford had a double and a home run.

Ashley Abair pitched five innings for the Lady Lions and had two strike outs. Hannah Lee came in relief and pitched one inning.

In game two, the Lady Lions had chances to score but never quite could get the runs.  In the bottom of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, SAGU had two left one base without scoring.

Kelsey Coburn went two for three with one double.

Hannah Lee pitched five innings for the Lady Lions. Kaitlyn Canales pitched one inning.

On Friday, April 1, 2016 the Lady Lions will host Mid-American Christian University .  MACU is currently 15-9 overall and 2-2 in the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC).  Game time for the doubleheader is noon.
