Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Woman’s Soccer Texas College

The Lady Lions exchanged possession with the Texas College Lady Steers; neither team scored a goal in the first half. Freshman Lesley Zamarripa sent a message of her observations to all the girls. Though she is on the sidelines due to a minor injury, she contributed to her team today. The team took advantage of her observations during halftime and discussed the positive and negative aspects of their first half. This sparked a fire in the girls as they came back onto the field.

Within the first 24 minutes, the Lady Lions scored three goals. The first goal was a corner kick from Senior Nadine Jaimes and was scored in my Catherine Turner . The second goal was scored by Mariah Sanchez off a free-kick. The third goal was blasted in by Nadine Jaimes with the assist coming from Racquel Kerlin.

The last four goals were made simultaneously in the last 12 minutes of the game. The first of which was made by Rachel Freed off of an assist by freshman Catherine Turner . The 5 th goal was made through the legs of Texas College’s goalie’s legs by senior Racquel Kerlin. The final two goals were sent into the net by senior Nadine Jaimes .

Coach Paul Hason stated, “So far our girls are doing well with attacking and getting to the goal.” He mentioned to his ladies “You always have to believe and keep fighting. The shots will keep coming and you must be ready for them. Believe. Follow the process. Sooner or later a goal must be accomplished but you must stay UNIFIED in that belief.”

The Lady Lions are looking forward to their next home game. They will be playing Huston-Tillotson University on Thursday, September 14 th at 1:00 P.M.
