Waxahachie, Texas – October 18, 2016 – The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) women’s soccer team topped Mid-America Christian University (MACU) 1-0 on Tuesday afternoon.  The Lady Lions are now 2-4 in the Sooner Athletic Conference and MACU is currently 3-3.

SAGU’s Nadine Jaimes scored the only goal of the game at the 19 minute mark after a pass from Laura Sturgeon .  Jaimes is the SAC’s leading scorer and after her goal against MACU, she now has 17 goals for the season.

The Lady Lions were able to work the clock and hold possession for much of the first half.  SAGU got off nine shots compared to MACU’s one.

The Lady Evangels were able to come around in the second period and got off nine shots compared to SAGU’s six.

SAGU’s goalkeeper, Kathleen Espinoza , had five saves with no goals allowed for the game.

MACU’s Madison Donihoo had nine saves in the net while allowing one through.

The Lady Lions have three more regular-season games left.  On Saturday October 22, 2016, SAGU will play St. Gregory’s at 1pm.  The Lady Cavaliers are currently 7-6 overall and 3-3 in the SAC.
