Waxahachie, TX- Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) were back at the Sheaffer Center after a tough three-game road trip. The Lady Lions (10-11, 5-9) couldn’t defend home court against the Eagles (16-6, 8-6) as they fell by the score of 79-63.
Top Performers
- Lexi Rich ( SR/San Antonio, TX ) led the way in scoring for the Lady Lions with 19 points.
- Sydney Meador ( JR/Denton, TX ) (17) and Tamera Derrough ( SO/Mansfield, TX ) (10) were the only other Lady Lions to crack double-figure scoring.
- Phillipa Greene ( JR/Freeport, Bahamas ) grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds for SAGU
- SAGU shot poorly from the field 29% (19-65) including 30% (8-26) from behind the arc.
- The Lady Lions were outrebounded 43-36
Lions Review
- The Lady Lions fell behind quickly 7-0 before Coach Phillips had to call a timeout to regroup.
- Meador and Derrough hit back to back three-point shots as SAGU trimmed the lead to 11-8.
- SCU posted another 7-0 run to push the lead to 18-8.
- Greene hit a late basket to cut the lead to 21-15 SCU after one quarter.
- Rich hit two long-range shots, followed up by one from Lauren Baker to vault the Lions back into the game, now down just 25-24.
- SCU created some separation, but Rich cashed in again from deep to cut it to a one possession game 35-32 with 3:27 left before the half.
- SCU closed on a 6-0 run to take a 41-32 lead into the locker room.
- The Eagles maintained an eight-point lead throughout the third quarter before pushing out to 15 as they took a 61-45 advantage into the final quarter.
- SAGU couldn’t cut into the lead in the fourth quarter as SCU took the win 79-63.

SAGU (10-11, 5-9) will be back in action on Thursday night February 13 th at 6:00 pm as they battle Mid-American Christian University at the Sheaffer Center.
