Southwestern Assemblies of God University volleyball team Langston University of St. Thomas-Houston Wiley College Jarvis Christian College

“Our kids played really well in all four games,” says coach Hank Moore , “We have one of the most balanced attacks that we have had in many years.  We had six players contributing to our hitting game.”

Langston W (25-14, 25-7, 25-14)
–          Kali Shaw and Summer Skillern each had 11 kills.  Shaw hit for 0.556 and Skillern 0.667.
–          Shaw also had nine digs.
–          Sophia Ivy and Madison McClure both set for SAGU.  Ivy had 12 assists, McClure added 17

University of St. Thomas-Houston W (27-25, 25-23, 25-14)
–          Kali Shaw, last year’s SAC freshman of the year, had 17 kills and 10 digs.
–          Celi Bruce had 11 digs.
–          Sophia Ivy had 22 assists and Madison McClure added 19.
–          Paulyae Dawkins had three solo blocks.

Wiley College W (25-20, 25-19, 25-20)
–          Summer Skillern had 12 kills and Shaw added 13 kills.
–          Sophia Ivy had 27 assists.
–          Three players in double-digit digs; Shaw had 12, Bruce had 14 and Bojana Vukadinovic had 11 digs.

Jarvis Christian College W (25-19, 23-25, 25-13, 25-17)
–          Shaw had an impressive 21 kills and 20 digs.
–          Celi Bruce had 17 digs, Bojana Vukadinovic had 14 and Sophia Ivy added 11.
–          Sophia Ivy also added 30 assists.
–          Paulyae Dawkins and Summer Skillern each added 10 kills.

This is SAGU’s best start since 2009.  The Lady Lions will play again on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 when they host University of Northwest Ohio at 7pm.
